Alexis Wright - Women's Volleyball

What is your favorite memory while playing for the Massbay's WVB team?

I have so many great memories with my team, but definitely my favorite and most exciting memory was when we had our win against Quinsigamond Community College. An honorable mention is our season ending team dinner after my first season, it will always be remembered!

What is your greatest accomplishment as a student-athlete?

Learning how to be a leader on and off the court by helping out my teammates and being there for them is my greatest accomplishment as a student-athlete.

What skill do you take most pride in that translated from the court to the classroom?

I take most pride in my abilities to confidently help others and assist them in different ways to have many perspectives of a concept. Not all minds and physical abilities are the same, and require a variety of explanations or visuals in order to learn!

What do you do to get in your zone before competitions, test, or presentations?

I tend to eat a good, balanced meal and drink a lot of water throughout the day. It is really important for your body to feel ready to go and refreshed beforehand. I really love to watch professional Volleyball games and talk to my team/class mates. (Shoutout to Kaileigh Bercume!)

What are your thoughts on athletes using their voice and platform to make a difference in their communities?

It?s always a great thing to see someone, athlete or not, practicing their rights to use freedom of speech to try to make differences in communities. Athletes and their work is generally viewed as inspirational and a popular entertainment aspect to our society, making their fans and viewers more likely to listen to what they have to say. Awareness is widely spread this way.

What advice would you give to a H.S student interested in participating in college athletics?

I know it?s difficult or maybe even uncomfortable getting used to a new setting and getting to know an entire new team, but it is so worth sticking to it! Creating strong relationships with your team and coaches is awesome and so important for your experience!
