Varsity Sports are back at MassBay!

Varsity sports are back at MassBay!

After not playing during the 2020-21 school year due to COVID-19, the MassBay Buccaneers will return to the fields and courts beginning with the fall 2021 sports – Men’s Soccer, Women’s Volleyball, Men’s Cross Country, and Women’s Cross Country.

While we are excited that our student-athletes will have the opportunity to be together and once again compete for championships this fall, the safety of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff is our highest priority.

In order to return safely, MassBay has decided that all student-athletes who choose to play will be required to show proof of vaccination. The College is following the latest guidance from federal and state public health experts, and we are convinced being vaccinated is the most effective precaution that can be taken to ensure the health and well-being of our community. We firmly believe that the safest path to returning to sports is doing so with vaccinated student-athletes.

If you are interested in playing a sport for the Buccaneers, please contact the coach of the sport you would like to play. The full listing of all of our coaches can be found HERE.

Tryouts for all fall sports are tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 23rd, 2021. Winter and spring sports tryout dates will be announced shortly. If you are not vaccinated and intend to tryout, it is recommended you get your vaccination as soon as possible as there is a required waiting time between shots for some of the COVID-19 vaccines.

MassBay is an NJCAA DIII member, participating in Region 21. Full-time MassBay students are eligible to try out for any of our sports: Men’s Soccer, Women’s Volleyball, Men’s Cross Country, Women’s Cross Country, Men’s Basketball, Golf, and esports. MassBay also intends to launch a Unified Sports program during the spring 2022 semester.
