Christine Crowley named Men's and Women's Cross Country Head Coach at MassBay
Christine Crowley has been named as the Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach at MassBay.
Crowley, who holds a USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification, has been honing her skills and understanding of cross country running from an early age. As a high school athlete, she was selected to the National Girls High School All-America Cross-Country Team and recognized by USA Today national sports correspondents as the High School Athletic Achiever of the Year for Massachusetts. The Boston Globe named her its “Runner of the Year” after capturing the State’s Cross-Country title in her second and final year of competing on the Boy’s Cross-Country team at Wellesley High School (at that time, Wellesley High did not field a women’s team). Christine’s trajectory in track was also noteworthy. She was named to the National Girls High School Track All-America team in the outdoor mile in her junior year and she was ranked second in the country in the indoor two mile by Track and Field News in her senior year.
Competing for Providence College on a full athletic scholarship, Christine rounded out her senior year in Cross Country with a 2nd place finish at the New England Cross- Country Championships and a 36th place finish in the NCAA Division I Team Cross- Country Championships in Annapolis, Maryland.
At the conclusion of her college career, she moved to the Island of Guam where she was selected to join its competitive bed racing team, which finished second at the International Carole Kai Competition in Oahu, Hawaii.
Christine continues to compete successfully in local and national cross country, trail, and track events for Liberty Athletic Club - the oldest women’s running club in the United States. Her proudest accomplishment is winning the 2020 open mile at a Smith College indoor track meet.
Christine has a masters of education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
She has worked in academic administration in the STEM field for over 20 years at
Harvard University, Smithsonian Institution, and Wellesley College.
Crowley feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with students at MassBay in developing their talent and love for the sport of running.
