MEN'S SOCCER: Hichos, Leone earn All-Region honors

MassBay men's soccer players Simon Hichos and Mario Leone have been named to the NJCAA Region 21 Men's Soccer All-Region team. Hichos garnered first-team honors, while Leone earned second-team distinction.

Both first-year players helped lead the Bucs to a Region 21 playoff birth this past season - the first Men's Soccer Tournament appearence for MassBay since 2019.

"Simon and Mario had great seasons for us as we bulid a championship program here at MassBay," commented first-year head coach Jeff Braverman. "Simon will show up everyday and give 110%. He is very respectful off the field, but a fiery competitor on it. Mario is always trying to imporve his craft, whether it's hitting the gym on his days off, or asking the coaches how he can improve."

Braverman also added that both Hichos and Leone are "first class footballers, and represent MassBay in a very positive manner."

"I am very happy for both Simon and Mario," said Directror of Athletics Adam Nelson. "They worked hard all season, and deserved to be recognized by the Region. Coach Braverman and his staff have our men's soccer program pointed in the right direction, and couldn't have done it without the committment and sacrifice of both of these players."

The Bucs will begin their off-season workouts shortly as they prepare for the 2023-24 season.
