Gercsak, Balan named MassBay Runners of the Week

Eva Gercsak and Gastevens Balan have been named as MassBay's Cross Country Runners of the Week following their strong performances in Western New England University's Golden Bear Invitational this past weekend.

Gercsak finished the women's race in 71st overall place, and set a personal record in the 6K with a time of 27:48. Her average mile time of 7:28 chopped nearly a minute off of her previous best of 8:21.

Balan also had a strong finish in the men's 8K race where he also set a PR, completing the course with a time of 37:42. Balan's 7:36 per mile beat his previous best average time by nearly a minute and a half. 

Gercsak, Balan, and the entire Cross Country program have shown tremendous growth and progress this season under first-year head coach Christine Crowley. The men's and women's teams have competed in four events so far this season, and will now be gearing up for their next event in Tyngsboro, MA on November 23rd.
