Bio

Laura started her journey at MassBay Community College in January of 2024.  She has loved health and fitness for as long as she can remember! Laura has worked the majority of her fitness career at the YMCA as a Nautilus and Group Exercise Instructor.  Helping and inspiring people has always been a passion of hers and she likes to do this through movement. In 2003 Laura graduated from UMass Amherst with a Bachelors Degree in Athletic Administration and then pursued a Masters in Education from Cambridge College where she graduated in 2005.

Laura considers herself a life-long learner in the Wellness field, always eager to learn and develop new skills. In 2014, she became a 200-hour Certified Yoga Instructor and shortly thereafter she pursued a Holistic Health Coach Certificate under the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.  Using this knowledge, she designed a Worksite Wellness Program tailored specifically for the local non-profit where she worked. The program aimed to improve employee health, boost morale, and increase productivity through various initiatives.  Laura then combined her background in counseling, fitness, and education and developed a specialized program for girls entitled - Yo-Glow.  The mission of the program was to assist each girl to see the greatness inside of them by using the tools of yoga, mindfulness and play to promote lifelong healthy habits.

Out of all of these experiences, Laura states that yoga has been her #1mode to connect with people and view the holistic approach to a person’s well-being. She has taught yoga in schools, senior centers, worksites, and various fitness studios in the Greater Boston area! Her hope is for her students to apply these invaluable skills to their everyday life.

Laura’s overall goal at MassBay is to foster an environment where growth and healing can occur In the college setting.  She wants to help both college students and staff find time in their busy schedules to take a look at what wellness means to them.  Through wellness initiatives, workshops, and one-on-one coaching sessions, she hopes to provide options for everyone so that they can feel healthy in both body and mind.
