Men's Basketball Beats UConn Avery Point 79-61, DeJesus Scores 40
MassBay downed visiting UConn Avery Point 79-61 last night in Region 21 men's baskeball action. With the win, the Bucs move to 4-3 (3-3 R21), while the Pointers fell to 1-7 (1-4 R21).
First-year guard Joshus DeJesus led the way for MassBay, scoring a career high 40 on 16/25 shooting. He also contributed 5 rebounds and 4 steals in the contest. DeJesus's previous career high was 34, which happened on Novermber 16th vs CCRI.
The Bucs got off to a strong start, jumping out to a 10-0 start, and leading by as many as 18 midway through the first half. UCAP clawed back, and narrowed the lead to just 9 at the half following a buzzer beating three.
The start of the second half was also tight, as the Pointers drew within four at 44-40. The Bucs, however, cranked up the pressure defensively, and pulled away over the remaining 15 minutes to seal the 18 point win.
MassBay travels to Northern Essex on Saturday, where they will face the #2 ranked team in the nation. Tip-off is 12:00pm.
